Unravelling the Plot
Sandra Barneda’s bestseller “La tierra de las mujeres” has been adapted into a series filmed in both English and Spanish. Eva Longoria takes on the role of Gala, a New Yorker whose life is upended when her husband gets involved in financial misconduct. Gala, along with her elderly mother (played by Carmen Maura) and teenage daughter (portrayed by Victoria Bazúa), is compelled to leave the city.
So, Gala, her mom (Carmen Maura), and her daughter (Victoria Bazúa) leave the city together. They’re trying to escape from some dangerous people after them because of Gala’s husband’s debts. They end up in a small town in northern Spain, where Gala’s mom used to live a long time ago.
The plan is to hide and start fresh, hoping nobody will recognize them. But things go differently than planned. People in the town start talking and spreading rumors about Gala and her family. Soon, their secrets emerge, and they realize they can’t hide from their past forever.
Gala and her family are trying to make a new life in this little Spanish town while dealing with all the gossip and drama that comes with it.
