Despite the challenges faced by many productions due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023, the series remained largely unaffected. George R.R. Martin confirmed that the scripts were completed well before the strikes, and filming began in April 2023 in London and Wales. The British actors’ union, to which the show’s cast belongs, was not part of the SAG-AFTRA strike, allowing production to proceed smoothly.
